Crawford County Solid Waste Authority Electronics
Recycling Feasibility Study
The Crawford County Solid Waste Authority has always aimed to offer a scope of
services
to
address many avenues of recycling and waste minimization, which would other wise
remain unfulfilled. The Authority recognized that end-of-life electronics
contributes an increasing amount of volume to the municipal waste stream.
Without any formal structure on the national or state level for collection of
electronic waste, Crawford County determined that a local solution should be
explored.
Nestor Resources conducted a feasibility study for a countywide
electronic recycling collection plan, which also provided a directory of
regional electronic recyclers, refurbishers and dismantlers and guidelines and
questionnaires for vendor selection. The study included an analyses of
electronic waste composition and generation in the county; cost models for 12
potential collection scenarios; background and analyses of international,
national and state programs and regulatory trends; as well as, results of the
county's pilot curbside collection program |
