MDI Waste Services Process Improvement
Initiative
MDI provides comprehensive waste management, composting and
recycling services throughout New Brunswick and has
 grown to become
the largest solid waste company in Atlantic Canada. MDI serves New
Brunswick through eight regional offices in Fredericton, Moncton,
Saint John, Campbellton, Bathurst, Tracadie-Sheila, Miramichi and
St. Stephen. A changing regulatory environment within the Province with a resulting increase in disposal rates prompted the company to
look within for cost savings and without for new revenue opportunities.
Nestor Resources coordinated a review of the company's business
practices and assisted in launching a company wide initiative to enhance performance standards and accountability, streamline
administrative procedures, and expand into new service offerings.
The project provided the company with a greater awareness of its
software capabilities;
 enhanced interdepartmental communications;
and opened the gateway for the eventual creation of a document destruction division, and development of a recycling and composting
facility expansion.
